Golden Sands - internationally known as Golden Sands and in Bulgarian called Slatni Pjasazi - is Bulgaria's second major party beach on the northern Black Sea coast and has been a magnet for party-loving vacationers from all over Europe for decades. The nearly four-kilometer-long beach owes its name to the actually golden-colored, fine sand, which is framed by a densely forested nature park hill. This combination of party, beach, and nature makes Golden Sands unique among European party destinations. The club scene at Golden Sands has made a name for itself internationally. The Arrogance Music Factory, Bonkers, and PR Club attract international DJs every summer, and the party mile along the promenade offers something for every taste, from foam parties to beer king atmospheres to hip-hop clubs. The prices remain unbeatable: cocktails starting at two euros, club entry often free, and a complete dinner costs less than a cocktail in Ibiza. What distinguishes Golden Sands from Sunny Beach is its embedding in the Golden Sands Nature Park, a densely forested mountain range directly behind the beach. Here, you can hike through shady oak forests in the morning, visit the Aladzha Monastery from the 13th century - a Byzantine hermitage carved into the rock - and relax on the beach in the afternoon. This mix of party and nature is unique and offers a contrasting program for those tired of partying. Varna, Bulgaria's third-largest city and cultural capital of the Black Sea coast, is only 17 kilometers to the south. The elegant port city offers an archaeological museum with the oldest gold treasure in the world (over 6,000 years old), a magnificent cathedral, the expansive Sea Garden, and a bathing culture that dates back to Roman times. A half-day trip to Varna is the perfect contrast to beach life. From Germany, it takes about 2.5 hours to fly to Varna and just 20 minutes to reach Golden Sands.
