France for Every Travel Type

No matter how you prefer to travel — France has something for everyone:

👫 For Couples & Romantics

Paris is not called the city of love for nothing: Seine walks at night, candlelit dinners in a bistro, Montmartre in the morning light. But also Provence with its lavender fields, the castles of the Loire, and the small fishing villages on the Côte d'Azur are perfect for togetherness. Budget: Romantic dinner in Paris from €60 for two, in Provence from €40.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 For Families

Disneyland Paris (35 min from city center, from €56/child), the Dune du Pilat on the Atlantic (Europe's highest sand dune — kids love it!), castles with knight shows, the cave paintings of Lascaux, Puy du Fou (Europe's best theme park according to TripAdvisor). France is extremely family-friendly: children's menus everywhere, discounts for families, beach clubs on the coast.

🎒 For Budget Travelers & Backpackers

France has a reputation for being expensive — and Paris is. But: BlaBlaCar for cheap rides (Paris–Lyon from €15), TGV saver fares from €19, hostels in Paris from €25/night, boulangerie lunch (baguette + cheese + fruit) for €5. Outside of Paris, France is surprisingly affordable, especially Brittany, the Loire Valley, and the interior.

🍷 For Gourmets & Foodies

The French cuisine is a UNESCO World Heritage. Each region has its specialties: Bouillabaisse in Marseille, Flammkuchen in Alsace, Cassoulet in Toulouse, Galettes in Brittany, Bœuf Bourguignon in Burgundy. A Michelin-starred menu starts from €45 at lunch — nowhere in Europe is fine dining so accessible.

🏔️ For Active & Adventurers

Mont Blanc (4,808 m, highest mountain in the Alps), 800 km long-distance hiking trail GR20 in Corsica, surfing in Biarritz and Hossegor (Europe's best waves), via ferratas in the Gorges du Verdon (Europe's Grand Canyon), cycling on the legendary Tour de France passes. And of course: the Loire à Vélo (900 km developed bike path).

📚 For Culture Enthusiasts

Over 1,200 museums, 45 UNESCO World Heritage sites, medieval cathedrals (Chartres, Reims, Notre-Dame), Roman amphitheaters (Arles, Nîmes, Orange), prehistoric cave paintings (Lascaux, Chauvet). On the first Sunday of the month, most national museums are free — including the Louvre!
